A well-known apparel manufacturer faced new space problems in their corporate offices due to custom furniture that would not accommodate standard monitor supports from other ergonomics suppliers. Grand Stands created a custom mount and modified its existing product to offer enough focal distance adjustment to accommodate the user’s custom furniture. Grand Stands provided a sample within three days and shipped the custom order less than two weeks to help the manufacturer avoid any delays in moving into their new space. |
A mid-sized municipality was in need of new furniture, but it required adjustments to the standard station layout and ergonomic configurations. They called on Grand Stands to develop the right adaptations. Thad Brennan designed a workstation layout to include an ergonomic and space-efficient design that allowed the client to reduce the workspace footprint by three square feet while providing more usable space. This configuration has become the standard on more than 1,000 stations. |
A large healthcare insurer had a 400-lb. employee who simply could not fit standard ergonomic configurations. Grand Stands developed a dual keyboard platform system utilizing a split keyboard so that the employee could work on the two platforms along the side instead of the front of her body. This system allowed her to work more comfortably and efficiently. This custom configuration was so successful that it has been replicated at other major institutions with similar personnel issues. Organizations can call or send a photo to Grand Stands for support in solving this or any ergonomic challenge. The same client utilized Grand Stands as part of a comprehensive ergonomic program to reduce workers comp claims drastically. It was a small investment for a big return. |
Grand Stands met with a large hospital group to review the special needs of certain hospital workers. They discovered that workers needed a station where they could take notes on a writing surface and not have to reach above or around the keyboard which would require people to work in a compromised fashion. Grand Stands responded by modifying the typical mouse/keyboard platform to include a writing pad. Now known as the “Bigger Board,” this system is not only useful in hospital environments but can be equally effective in call centers, scheduling departments, or other work environments in which employees need to write concurrent with data input. This simple change became a game changer in workstation layouts. |
